Hi! My name is Ms. Stafford and I am currently in my fifth year as a school counselor at Birdneck Elementary School. I was born and raised in Maryland, so I am a big fan of crab cakes! I received my BS in Psychology from Saint Vincent College, home of the Bearcats! I moved to Virginia and received my M.Ed in School Counseling from Lynchburg College. After working as a Therapeutic Day Treatment clinician for several years, I made the move to Virginia Beach to begin my career as a school counselor!

Some fun facts about me: I have a dog named Fenway (spoiled to the bone!), I love all things Notre Dame, baseball is my favorite sport, I ran with the bulls in Spain, running marathons is my favorite hobby, and I absolutely LOVE chocolate!!

School Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of the school counseling program at Birdneck Elementary School is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program addressing the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. School counselors are professional school advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and achievement. In partnership with other educators, parents or guardians, and the community, school counselors facilitate the support system to ensure all students of Birdneck Elementary are prepared with the knowledge and skills to become life- long learners.
